Only a very small number of these animals will receive the care they deserve while warehoused in these shelters. The vast majority of animal shelters we work with are, for the most part, deemed "high kill" due to their limited space and resources. Cats are at the highest risk for euthanasia, given the very large numbers that are displaced through abandonment or surrender. These foster-based rescues must meet the strict vetting protocol that we at OLC have developed. Our dedicated team of volunteers gathers all the pertinent information about each animal - photo, behaviour, and temperament - and networks these deserving dogs, cats, small exotics and, yes, even the occasional pot bellied pig, to our rescue partners in Ontario and Quebec (primarily), and out of province for high risk breeds of dogs. We work with several SPCAs, SPAs, Humane Societies, and animal shelters in the Greater Montreal and surrounding area to save the lives of animals nearing their "euthanasia" dates. ONE LAST CHANCE RESCUE (OLC) is a registered charity founded in April 2016. In addition, we will be publicizing our efforts and acknowledging all donors in social media forums.Įvery viable life deserves one last chance. But what is really essential is financial support for veterinary care and food.īy donating to our next mission, we can offer you a charitable tax receipt.

We have begun a campaign to collect donations of collars and leashes. Last year on a similar mission our fundraising campaign enabled us to bring donations of leashes, collars and a generous monetary donation to Animal Shelter Costa Rica A.H.P.P.A., one of Central America’s most progressive shelters.

Our objective is to rally local support to be able to bring a substantial financial donation to local rescues. In December 2018 one of our volunteer will be travelling to Costa Rica, for a second consecutive year, on a personal vacation and will take the opportunity to bring relief to local rescues working so diligently to minimize the suffering of stray dogs. Our philosophy is that no animal should suffer or die for the sake of expediency. In the last two years, our volunteer-run organization has helped re-home thousands of dogs and cats who faced euthanasia due primarily to overcrowding in high-kill pounds. One Last Chance Rescue is a registered Canadian charity whose primary goal is to help animals in need in Montreal, Quebec and surrounding areas.
